Cobb Board Announces Their 2012 Legislative Priorities
Cobb Board of Education Presents Legislative Priorities for 2012
The Cobb Board of Education released its legislative priorities for the 2012 season. For 2012, the Board will be focusing on four distinct requests
for the Legislature:
To reinstate funding for technical college dual enrollment in order to reduce high school dropout rates and provide a better-prepared work force.
To maintain employee benefit costs.
To support fractional penny SPLOST. If allowed to collect Special Purpose Local Option Sales Taxes at less than 1% of every dollar, local school systems could meet needs for capital improvement with a smaller tax impact on GA residents.
To determine the local impact costs of unfunded mandates and put in place a process and procedures to protect against them in the future.
A brochure with detailed supporting information as well as contacts for all of Cobb’s legislators is available at www.cobbk12.org.
