If you’re a 6th or 7th grade parent, we hope you will come out next year and support your new PTSA team. They need YOU!! There are many different committees and lots of ways for you to get involved – daytime or evening, a few hours a month or a few hours a year. Volunteer sign-up sheets will be available at both Sneak-a-Peek and Open House in August. Or you can contact daniellptsa@hotmail.com at any time to get info on any of the different activities or to find out how you can help. Please encourage all of your neighbors and friends who will be incoming 6th grade parents to get involved, too! It truly does “take a village” to do all the things we do at Daniell!
A Note From Our President
I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure as PTSA President these past two years at Daniell and am proud of all the great things we’ve accomplished as a team. Thank you for allowing me to serve your families in this role. We have some of the best parents, staff, and students around! Even though my daughter will be graduating from Daniell, I plan to come back and help support your new PTSA Board in the fall. So I am happy that I will still get to see some of your smiling faces from time to time at the school. I wish all of you and your students a fantastic summer and a great 2013-2014 school year!
Love you like a big roast beef!

Thank You For Casting Your Vote in Favor of SPLOST IV!!
Your Daniell PTSA wants to thank all of the parents and community members that voted “YES” in March for Ed SPLOST IV. In Cobb County, Ed SPLOST IV passed with 57.3 percent in favor. What does this mean for our community and for our school?
Some of the major projects for Cobb County Schools include a new classroom and fine arts building and new gym at Walton HS, a reconstruction of Osborne HS, an East Cobb MS replacement and two new unspecified elementary schools. More importantly though, for Daniell MS, the SPLOST notebook includes a budget for new doors and windows, gym lighting and electrical upgrades, HVAC replacement, an electrical system upgrade, an intercom phone system, technology upgrades, upgrade and/or replace band and choral instruments and equipment, and a redesign of the front lobby for safety. You can reference the full SPLOST notebook on the CCSD website athttp://www.cobbk12.org/SPLOST/CobbEd-SPLOSTIVNotebook_20121114.pdf.

Happy Summer From Your Environmental Ed Committee!!
If you have enjoyed the information submitted by the Daniell Environmental Education Committee this year and want to learn even more, we urge you to visit www.EEInGeorgia.org. There you will find a complete calendar of events, resources, news and information on how you and your family can protect Earth! Have a super summer!
Then followed that beautiful season… Summer….
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.

We want to say a special THANK YOU to the “Support Our School” Committee members who have volunteered to help on all the various projects throughout the year so far. The teachers, administration, students, and especially your committee chair are thankful that you volunteer your valuable time to help with these important needs. We have ongoing needs in the following areas:
- help with updating our school bulletin boards and the school’s marquee – Daniell administration has turned over responsibility to the PTSA for these important areas so we depend on you to be able to get these things done on a timely basis.
- parents to help man the front desk to greet parents and guests entering our school
If you haven’t yet had a chance to volunteer at the school, you are welcome to contact Denette Wynn, our PTSA President, or stop by the PTSA Desk to see how you can help. We look forward to seeing you on our campus soon!

Educational Funding & SPLOST IV Information Meeting
Are you concerned about class sizes, adequate funding for education—including fair compensation for teachers? Are we at the tipping point where the quality of education will begin to suffer in Cobb County? Want to know more about what the proposed SPLOST IV includes for Daniell? Then plan to attend an Information Meeting in the Dodgen Middle School Auditorium (1725 Bill Murdock Rd, 30062) on Monday, February 11, at 6:30pm. Concerned parents and local PTA leaders will address educational funding issues; principals, BOE members, and CCSD personnel will discuss the contents of SPLOST IV. You can find the proposed project list for Daniell atwww.cobbk12.org/SPLOST/EdSPLOST4_Sprayberry.pdf.

All Hands On Deck!
It’s Time For EVERYONE To Show Our Appreciation To Our Wonderful Teachers!Daniell’s Teacher Appreciation Days are coming up on February 12th-14th. We have 3 days of “pampering” planned for our great teachers and staff, and we need your help. There are SEVERAL WAYS for you to join in the fun, so come help us make our teachers feel special and appreciated.FIRST, we want to give the teachers 3 days of NO LUNCHROOM DUTY. This means we will need VOLUNTEERS TO MONITOR THE CAFETERIA on each of those days during all lunch periods. If you can help for even just one lunch hour, we need you!
SECOND, we want to provide YUMMY FOOD for the teachers and staff on all 3 days. They will be enjoying their lunch hours in a specially-decorated “bistro” far away from the deafening noise and chaos of a busy lunch room.
The 12th will be “Sandwich and Salad” day. We’ll need chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, pasta salad, and fruit salad, as well as typical green salad “fixings”: lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, croutons, onions, bacon bits, salad dressings, etc.
The 13th will be “Soup and Salad” day. We’ll need crockpots of vegetable soups, potato soups/chowders & chicken noodle soups, rolls, corn muffins, and more green salad “fixings”.
The 14th will be “Dessert and Coffee Bar” day. We’ll need cookies, brownies, dessert bars (i.e. lemon bars, Mississippi Mud Bars), mini cupcakes, cakes, etc. as well as flavored coffee creamers.
THIRD, we want to give away DOOR PRIZES during the lunch periods. We needGIFT CARDS in any denomination to Starbucks, grocery stores, restaurants, nail salons, etc. If food is not your thing, here’s a perfect way to chip in and help us with the celebration.
Please let us know asap how you’re willing to help by contacting us atdaniellptsa@hotmail.com. Gift Cards can be dropped off at the PTSA Desk in the lobby or sent with your student. PARENTS, WE ALL HAVE CHILDREN AT DANIELL, SO WE ALL SHOULD HELP WITH TEACHER APPRECIATION DAYS. Thanks in advance for your participation!
